  Famous British audio brand-B&W

Since the birth of Bowers & Wilkins, John Bowers, one of the founders of the audio brand, has been faithful to the authenticity of sound throughout its entire product line. From high-fidelity speakers, home theaters, new media products to car audio, every Bowers & Wilkins product must flow out in its original flavor, making it an immersive listening experience.

  1966 to 1970: brand creation

Born in 1922, John Bowers joined the British Royal Signal Force during World War II. In that era of war, he met Ray Wilkins, another founder of the brand. After the end of World War II, two friends founded an audio retail store in a small town in southern England, which was engaged in speaker assembly and television business. The store name was Bowers & Wilkins. From the day of its establishment, John Bowers has built every product with the belief of "faithful to the sound", and has long insisted on investing profits in research and development to explore the limits of speakers and the ultimate original sound.

1970-1990: classics come out one after another

After the 70s, classics by Bowers & Wilkins appeared one after another. The three cornerstones of midrange Kevlar cone technology, overhead tweeter technology, and Matrix internal structure technology have established the brand status and created an opportunity for Bowers & Wilkins to work hand in hand with the world's top recording studios.

In 1974, Bowers & Wilkins used Kevlar fiber to make the cone, and successfully achieved remarkable results in destroying standing waves, making the sound more transparent and positioning more accurate. The ochre yellow Kevlar midrange cone has become the unique symbol of Bowers & Wilkins.

In 1977, Bowers & Wilkins placed the tweeter on the top of the speaker cabinet for the first time, fully releasing the performance of the tweeter and creating a more realistic sound quality. The overhead tweeter has become another milestone in the history of the audio brand, and it has also been quickly imitated and used by other industries. At the same time, a major breakthrough has been made in the internal connection structure of the speaker. The Matrix structure and its interlocking panel have taken the bass performance of the speaker a big step forward.

In 1979, after continuous accumulation and innovation, Bowers & Wilkins launched the most classic product-801 speaker, marking the arrival of the modern era of high-end speaker design. 801 has a special drive unit, each unit is in an independent box, can present an unprecedented perfect sound effect. The birth of the 801 loudspeaker shocked the entire industry and was adopted by the top recording studios as monitor speakers. This created an opportunity for Bowers & Wilkins to work hand in hand with the world's top recording studios.

Bowers & Wilkins, who has never stopped challenging the limit, established the Steyning R&D Center, known as the "Sound University" in 1981. The exclusive R&D center is not only equipped with a series of advanced hardware, but also brings together the world's top professional engineers. They focus on acoustics, electronics, mathematics, materials, machinery, molds, woodworking, etc. In the unremitting pursuit of more perfect speakers, countless breakthrough technologies and design ideas that shocked the industry were born here.

Bowers & Wilkins realized the importance of loudspeaker shape design early on. A perfect loudspeaker can not only capture the hearts of users, but also improve its sound quality. Since 1975, Bowers & Wilkins has joined hands with the famous British designer Kenneth Grange and the founder of the UK's most successful design company Native Design Morten Warren to create a loudspeaker that can be called a classic of art and achieve continuous breakthroughs in design creativity. .
