The difference between full-range speakers and crossover speakers

Professional stage sound is very important for performances, especially the sound in professional stage sound. The sound effect will also affect the actual effect of stage performance. Audio is one of the major categories of professional audio equipment. It looks simple on the surface, but the internal structure is not simple. According to the internal speaker structure, audio can be divided into full-range speakers and crossover speakers.

  Full range speaker

What is a full-range speaker? A full-range speaker is a speaker made of only one full-range speaker. There is only one speaker. A crossover speaker uses a crossover to separate the high, medium, and low frequencies. The speakers are from 2 to N varies.

In fact, it is impossible for a speaker to cover all frequency bands. Generally speaking, full frequency is actually broadband. The human ear can hear the sound range of 20~20KHz, so the sound frequency is usually divided into three frequency bands: high, medium and low. The low-end of the full-range speaker generally can reproduce the sound better within 150-15KHz, and the distortion is larger beyond this range; the mid-range generally has better performance within 80-18KHz, the full power distortion is >5%; the high-end generally requires the least Cover to 45-20KHz, full power distortion> 2%. The advantage of full-range audio is that it uses a point sound source, so the phase is accurate, and the timbre of each frequency band tends to be consistent, which makes it easier to bring a good sound field and level. The disadvantage is that the extension at both ends of the high and low frequencies is relatively limited, and the design and performance of each frequency band are restricted.
