  The power sequencer is often used in the electronic peripheral equipment of professional audio system. Before we say how to select a power sequencer, we should first understand the role of the power sequencer. The power sequencer can start the power supply one by one from the previous equipment to the next equipment. When the power supply is turned off, all kinds of electrical equipment will be turned off from the next level to the previous level, so that all kinds of electrical equipment can be effectively managed and controlled in a unified manner, avoiding human error operation, At the same time, it can reduce the impact of electric equipment on the power supply grid at the moment of switching, and also avoid the impact of induced current on the equipment, ensuring the stability of the entire power system.

  First, voltage stability

  The voltage stability is the first. I think everyone has no opinion. The stable operation of the sequencer is the premise of the reliable system. The sequencer is often not turned on, or one or two channels are not turned on from time to time, so that no good system can be built without such a sequencer; In addition to its reliable operation, it also needs to have a certain anti-interference ability. Part of the interference source of timing impact comes from the external power supply network, which mainly includes the surge and pulse spike generated by induction lightning, motors, fluorescent lamps, etc; The other part is the interference caused by the internal power supply charging or switching power supply when the system starts.

  After talking about the interference source, let's talk about the steps to test the stability of the sequencer:

  1. Power on the sequencer, set the timing interval of the sequencer to 1 second, and then start the sequential starting function. During the starting process, switch the fluorescent lamps or electric drills in the room. Note that the sequencer cannot be restarted or the channel cannot be opened. This method should be tested for many times.

  If possible, use a pulse generator to inject interference pulses into the sequencer to supply mains power (220V power). During the test, increase the interference intensity by several times to test the anti-interference intensity of the sequencer under test. Generally speaking, it should be above 1KV (1000V).

  2. Each output of the sequencer is connected with a load (preferably a high-power power amplifier). If there is not so much load, the load can be connected to the next several consecutive circuits (such as CH8, 7, 6, 5). Then power on the sequencer and start the sequential starting function (note that for equipment with adjustable timing interval, the interval should be adjusted to 1 second). The starting process depends on whether the sequencer can be restarted or the channel cannot be opened.

  Second, scalable

  The number of output channels of the power sequencer is divided into 4, 8, 10, 12, etc. When the number of devices exceeds the number of channels of a sequencer, it is necessary to expand (cascade) the use. When selecting, it should be noted that after expansion, the first channel can be opened to the last channel, and the last channel can be closed to the first channel; Many sequencers on the market can not meet this requirement, and all of them are closed at the same time.
