The loudspeaker is the key part of the loudspeaker system (commonly known as the sound box), and the sound quality of the loudspeaker is mainly determined by the performance index of the loudspeaker, which in turn determines the overall sound reproduction index. The performance indicators of speakers mainly include rated power, rated impedance, frequency characteristics, harmonic distortion, sensitivity, directivity, etc.
The performance of the speaker is mainly measured by the following indicators:
1. Rated power (W) d There are many kinds of speaker distortion, the common ones are harmonic distortion (mostly caused by the uneven magnetic field of the speaker and the distortion of the vibration system, often generated at low frequencies), intermodulation distortion (due to two Signals of different frequencies are added to the speaker at the same time, and the sound quality is deteriorated due to mutual modulation) and transient distortion (the inertia of the vibration system cannot keep up with the change of the signal, causing signal distortion), etc. Harmonic distortion refers to the addition of harmonic components that are not present in the original signal during playback. The harmonic distortion of the loudspeaker comes from the non-uniform magnetic field of the magnet, the characteristics of the diaphragm, the displacement of the voice coil and other nonlinear distortions. At present, the harmonic distortion index of better speakers is no more than 5[%].
2. Sensitivity (dB/W) The sensitivity of the speaker usually refers to the sound pressure measured at 1m in front of the speaker axis when the input power is 1W of noise voltage. Sensitivity is a measure of how well a speaker can reproduce the details in an audio signal. The higher the sensitivity, the more responsive the speaker is to all the details in the audio signal. The sensitivity as a Hi-Fi speaker should be greater than 86dB/W.
3. Directivity The sound pressure and frequency characteristics of the loudspeaker for radiation in different directions are different. This characteristic is called the directivity of the loudspeaker. It is related to the caliber of the speaker. When the caliber is large, the directivity is sharp, and when the caliber is small, the directivity is wide. Directivity is also related to frequency. Generally speaking, there is no obvious directivity for low-frequency signals below 250Hz. It has obvious directivity for high frequency signals below 1.5kHz.
